Pheasants Hill Farm spit roasts are the ultimate gourmet hog roast – free range, woodland reared, Tamworth pig-on-the-spit. Other spit roast caterers will use pigs that are raised intensively indoors and which become dry and stringy when spit roasted for 8 hours or more over a fierce gas flame.In contrast our free range outdoor reared Tamworth hogs are truly delicious and sumptuous when roasted. Our wild pigs graze freely and are fed on natural grains without antibiotics. Traditional breeds like Tamworth have layers of fat so they can survive outdoors in all weathers. When roasted the meat bastes in this fat so it stays incredibly moist even when cooked for 10 hours, with a distinctive Tamworth woodland reared deep pork flavour and irresistible (if fattening!) crackling. All our pigs are born and bred on our farm in Killyleagh, County Down, so you can be sure you are serving genuine free range Tamworth or Gloucester Old Spots pork to your guests. We can select any size of pig from our own herd on the farm, and provide hog roast buffets for 50 to over 500 people.
